GuruNet ("we", "us") is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. GuruNet is an online advertising service where tutors, teachers and institutes ("advertisers") publish class advertisements and students and parents ("visitors") find them. By using the website you agree to these terms.

1. Our service

We sell advertising space on our website. We are not a party to any agreement between an advertiser and a visitor, we do not employ tutors, and we do not collect class fees. Visitors deal with advertisers directly.

2. Posting ads

• You must verify a Sri Lankan mobile number by SMS. You are responsible for all ads posted with your number.
• Ads must describe a real class or tutoring service that you offer, with accurate subjects, fees, location and qualifications.
• Do not post duplicate ads, misleading claims (for example guaranteed exam results you cannot substantiate), contact details of other people, or content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual or discriminatory.
• Classes for children must comply with all applicable laws and child-protection requirements.
• You grant us a licence to display, resize and promote your ad content and photos on GuruNet and in our marketing.

3. Free ads

Free ads are shown for a limited period (currently 7 days) and can be renewed when they expire. We limit the number of free ads per phone number. Paid ads are shown above free ads.

4. Paid plans

• Paid plans (Featured, Spotlight) run for the period purchased (1 month = 30 days, 3 months = 90 days) starting when the ad goes live after payment.
• Spotlight (homepage hero) and Featured places are limited; we show availability before you pay.
• Prices are shown in Sri Lankan Rupees and may change for future purchases. A purchase already made is not affected.
• Payment is by bank transfer to the account shown at checkout. Write your mobile number in the transfer's description / remark and upload the payment slip (photo, screenshot or PDF). Your plan starts once we have confirmed the transfer on our bank statement; we may not be able to confirm a transfer we cannot match to your order.

5. Moderation

We may review, edit for formatting, hide or remove any ad, and block phone numbers, if we believe an ad breaks these terms or after reports from visitors. Refunds for removed paid ads are handled under our Refund policy.

6. Visitors

We do not verify tutors' qualifications or the quality of classes. Use your own judgement, meet in safe places and never pay large sums in advance. Report suspicious ads using the "Report this ad" link.

7. Liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, we are not liable for any loss arising from dealings between advertisers and visitors, or from temporary unavailability of the website. Our total liability to an advertiser is limited to the amount paid for the affected plan.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Courts in Colombo have jurisdiction.
